I'm not gonna sugar coat it: 2017 started off a little rocky. I had thoroughly exhausted my self in 2016 so I made the decision to cut back on advertising and not push my self so hard on social media. The consequence of that decision meant I had a slower season than expected. My initial thought was "this is great, I'll have time to devote to each client and maybe some time to start some projects!"
Well, I started lots of projects that I didn't quite finish by the end of 2017. I had big ideas. And a vision that I still hold for 2018. And even though my vision is sometimes a little bigger than my means, I am so thankful for the support from my friends and family to help me work on these projects. Not to mention the constant encouragement from my **new husband**. That's right, we tied the not at the end of the wedding season <3
But I definitely got to spend more time with clients this year. I ate dinner with clients. Our phone conversations were less business and more conversation. I really felt like I got to know them. I got to know their real desires for their wedding plans. I learned how photos fit into those goals and how I could contribute to what were great memories. Read More
My one hour sessions turned into two hour sessions. My workflow during portraits slowed down and I was able to be more conscious and controlled with each click of the shutter. I took less photos, as a result. I also got to spend more time playing around with Gifs. Since I had stepped back from social media, I would capture them and fail to show them off. So I decided to show off 2017 with all of the Gifs I captured through out the year. I hope you enjoy this slightly long video and the favorite portraits of 2017 to follow.
Oh my, oh my. Molly and Michael have a presence about them, that makes you want to re-evaluate your priorities, to look to those you love, and kiss them on the mouth. The aura they have around their selves, seeps affection and intimacy. Michael took every, EVERY chance he had to kiss his bride. He held her close as often as he could. When he glanced at her, a smile would spread across his face.
Ah my heart melted over and over again this day. They were beautiful, their friends and family were loving and fun. The weather was kind to us, and they got married in the same cathedral Molly's Grandmother married in.

I have grown quite attached to these two. I had the honor of not only photographing their engagement, but also their ceremony in Seattle Washington. They even met my mom (That's a big step.) It's clients like these two that make my job the best job in the world. They had a beautiful reception to celebrate their marriage at the Grand Reserve in Lexington, Ky and it was a glorious celebration of two beautiful souls. Read More

Annastasia and Travis have been so fun from day one. They chose January for their engagement session and we traipsed around Floyd's Fork outside Louisville. For their wedding day, we got to explore Cherokee Park in the cold of December and it was a real winter Wonderland.
I have to give props to Anna and Travis for the best timeline at a wedding. After they got married and took some pictures, they went to the Hilltop tavern and celebrated with some friends before their reception. I think we get wrapped up in scheduling all the "traditional things" during our wedding day, and we forget to plan the celebration. Read More
It's getting harder and harder to keep these blogs short. I feel so blessed with my clients. Not only did Laura & Sean offer to drive around Louisville with us, they were equally enthusiastic about traveling to several beautiful places for photos. Not to mention, the first location was where Sean proposed to Laura. We ended the night with a shot under their street sign, and boy does that make it special. It's such a good feeling to be apart of these guys beautiful story, I can't brag on them enough. Sorry I'm not sorry for all the photos. Read More
Brittany & Jason have really figured out love. It is a soft gentle soulful love fueled by an adventurous heart. Their engagement session was in a dreamy abandoned greenhouse. On their wedding day, in gown and suit, Brittany & Jason ventured to the High Bridge Park and climbed up to the top. With an overcast sky, these two beautiful people stood at the top of the world.
By the way, this is the best way to win me over. Read More
Allison & Tyler contacted me a few months ago. They are the husband and wife team at Happy Camper Films. They asked if I knew of anyone with an RV they could borrow for a shoot. It just so happened that I was in the market for a vintage RV to remodel and low and behold it would make the perfect little home for these happy little campers. Allison & Tyler gave my 1978 Georgia Boy Cruise Air some much needed love and I had so much fun hanging out with them, carving pumpkins and building the most impressive campfire.

It's not everyday, that a couple chooses to do a destination wedding for the entire group in Frankfort, KY. Sophie & Justin did just that. Not a single soul is from Kentucky, but guests came from Spain, San Francisco, Chicago and Pittsburgh and more to watch these two cool cats get hitched. There was lots of celebration and lots of dancing as The Brain Cloud filled the night air with catchy tunes. Special thanks to Buffalo Trace Distillery for being such wonderful hosts. Read More
Back in July, Brandi and I trucked all the way to New Ulm, Minnesota to join a few others for a Karrah Kobus Photography workshop. Karrah was wonderful and our models were gorgeous. We camped out with the mosquitoes and hiked to some areas just at the golden hour. I've included a few photos of Karrah in action. Read More
Ashlyn & Jonathan are the sweetest souls. Jonathan was in Brazil when we met Ashlyn. His family is doing missionary work in the area. Their quaint little wedding at the Hunt-Morgan House in Lexington, Ky was perfect and so fitting for this heart filled family. Read More
Sarah & Michael could not have better timing. They had their first look and portraits before the ceremony. We waltzed around Gratz Park while watching another wedding set up on the grounds. Then we returned to the Bodley Bullock House for the Ceremony. It was not five minutes after the kiss and quick family portraits that it started to pour. But It would not have mattered if they had been rained on, these guys would have radiated. Read More
Rachel & Johnny were one of our favorite engagement sessions. We met them at Centre College and they ran around their college campus with us. They were so fun, and up for anything. We even got them to lay down on a dusty wooden floor while we shot from above. Needless to say, their wedding day was equally fun. From the start of our day, running in the fields to performances and chants at the end of the night. These guys have figured out their secret to happiness: and it's always have fun. Read More
Laura originally contacted me, Christine, to photograph her wedding last year. When I was under the radar and not yet part of Goldie & Christine, Laura saw something in me and gave me nothing but compliments on my work. It was such an awarding experience to be asked to not only photograph her, but to photograph her in the most beautiful dress I've seen yet. I can't say enough, how lucky I have the clients we have. Here's to loving your subject and your job. Read More
