Thought I'd share some lovely photos of these fine folk. I also thought I'd start out with their furry child, Callie, who definitely stole the show. We didn't really make a plan for this day. We started out at the Olmsted where Mark proposed to Jennifer, then we sort of made it up as we went along, finding great little spots as we passed through. Then we ended up on Frankfort Avenue where we caught the last of the golden hour. I just have a few favorites to show off, so thanks for checking them out!Read More
I love photographing small weddings like this one. I also love photographing anything or anyone at 21c. I also love when there's some time between visiting 21c so I can admire the new art. Anyways, suffice it to say I so enjoyed documenting this Modern Downtown Lexington Wedding. I love that they embraced the art in with their wedding. It was classy, fun and memorable.
On a side note, I just wanted to say this. Last year, I never got the time to post several sessions and weddings. I was in the habit of selecting way too many photos to blog and it just became overwhelming. So this year, in hopes of staying more on top of the blog, I'm going to limit myself to my absolute favorite portraits. Which means you might wonder if I took certain photos that you would expect. And I did! I'd be happy to show you a full gallery, but for now, enjoy the photos that I think stood out.Read More
I just love when couples bring their puppies along. This sweet pup was so well-behaved. Sarah & Gabe met me downtown at Gratz Park to capture the last of the Autumn leaves. We meandered along busy streets looking for murals and urban areas of Lexington. You wouldn't believe it from the pictures but it was literally freezing outside. They'd take their coats off for a couple minutes at a time for portraits and then we'd bundle up as we moved to another location.Read More
I was so pumped to photograph this wedding after Amber & Ryan met me last year. We laughed about the fun we could have with penguins and the views from the rooftop of 21C Museum Louisville. They were so fun and easy going, I knew I'd get much needed creative liberties with them during our portrait sessions. 21C did not disappoint.
But even more impressive is the event Amber and Ryan planned for their guests. They created their own piece of art during their ceremony in front of their guests. They even true some paint around, Amber got some on her dress and she loved how appropriate that made their wedding. (side note: Amber and Ryan met in art class!) They also had their reception, toasts, dances in the gorgeous atrium at 21C Museum. Their guests enjoyed roaming from gallery to gallery admiring the art and ambience of the venue.
It was a real treat to follow these guys around and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to know them.Read More
Aliqae & Andrew traveled to Louisville, from the rural parts of New York State, to have a downtown wedding with their friends and family. They chose the essence of elegance, the Henry Clay. The ornate mirror she got dressed in front of, was wall height, mirroring her wedding gown with a lace cover up top. He wore a cumber bun and bowtie, and the two saw each other for a first look on the sun filled and brick wall lined patio.
The ceremony was personally tweaked to include new and old traditions, carefully chosen readings and the backstory on how Aliqae and Andrew came to be Aliqae & Andrew. They kissed twice for their first kiss and spent the following cocktail hour with their guests, mingling and conversing with a group from all over the US.
As expected, dinner was exquisite, the music, lively, and a retro photobooth kept guests moseying around the ballroom in sombreros and masks. Nieces & nephews excitedly watched the cake cutting and then admired Andrew & Aliqae's first dance as the sun slowly sank below the rooftops outside. It really was an elegant event perfectly designed and executed by two classy souls. I feel very fortunate to have been apart of it.Read More
We were certain it was going to rain this morning. We also feared if we found a window without rain, it would be so muggy and hot. First off, I loved Cate's persistence and willingness to have photos in the rain if we had to. Alas, the morning was the perfect temperature and sunny! Cate & Gren were so fun and sweet. I can't wait for their wedding, rain or shine <3Read More
Hannah has been a friend since Middle School. She introduced me to Blink 182, tattoos and not worrying about what kind of person, others thought I should be. She's been such as strong influence in my life, for the best. We may not have stayed close, but we've always picked up where we left off.
It goes with out saying we met at Rooster Brewery for the engagement. In part to make catching up our first priority, (and maybe for a little liquid courage.) In fact, the hanging out lasted a little longer than I intended and I completely missed the golden hour I was aiming for. When we started the portraits, it was basically dusk in downtown Paris and turned to nighttime before we knew it.
It was perfect. Cause Hannah & Jake confessed they weren't excited about the average frolicking at sunset in flowered fields or woods-kind-of-portraits. They were night owls. They loved this bar, this small town and the end of the day. So the focus of our session was their smiles, their goofing off, and their ability to not take life too seriously. Congrats friends, can't wait for go-carts and mountains in October <3Read More
It's always surprising when a Mother of the Bride contacts and books us. But I did finally meet Molly and Michael at Third Street stuff and we spent way too long making plans for the engagement that may or may not have included water hoses. (We still need to do that.) Alas, when they suggested Michler's Florist, I thought it'd be as dreamy as ever and we'd all hang out for a beer afterwards. Thank you Kentucky Native Cafe for being my favorite place in Kentucky. Thank you for the mimosa pudica's. Thank you Chasity for the assistance, and thank you Molly & Michael for making a very spontaneous session fun an fruitful. You were a dream to photograph <3Read More
We met Cheyenne & Philip after they had returned to America from Germany. We had the best time at their engagement session, browsing a wintry Michler's Florist and then climbing on great big tree stumps at the arboretum. Their wedding was only a continuation of that delightful time. The hotel room Cheyenne got ready in, had a dreamy view of downtown Lexington. they married in beautiful cathedral with lots of friends of family excited for these two to finally tie the know. We then barely got a chance to take some portraits behind the wonderful Signature Club. The sun had already gone down but these two hung out with me for a beautiful toned twilight portrait session. Their reception then carried on into a relaxed and elegant celebration with a Pittsburgh Cookie Table that left us with a new standard of deserts <3Read More
I have so many memories with this lady. From home-made videos inspired by Napoleon Dynamite, Dancing Hamsters and Friends trivia to water slides in her back yard, to struggling with Spanish class and mostly just standing around on a soccer field with bright yellow jerseys. Suzie is such a big part of what made me, me (Christine, here.) I was so excited when she asked me to photograph her engagement. Her and Mitch are so fun, and so funny. They had awesome locations picked out near their homestead in Nulu, Louisville and we ended the night on the River. I could do this day over and over again. Not to mention, they picked practically the only sunny day. They are the lucky ones.Read More
April & Matt had a hotel room full of kiddos, loved ones and all the dressings for a wedding planned in Gratz Park. And then the rain came. Lucky for the guests, Matt had a back up plan and 21c Museum Hotel Staff came to the rescue with a beautiful ceremony in the hotel. April looked stunning in her classy, open backed dress and feathered hat. Matt looked dashing in his blue suit. They then celebrated their big day with an intimate dinner at National Provisions, surrounded by what I can only describe as the neatest and coolest space. Just check out the photos. You'll find love, and laughter and lots of perfect little details.Read More
Cheyenne and Philip contacted us when they were in Germany. We originally had a German Christmas Market in Cincinnati planned for their engagement. Alas, the weather was not on our side and the Holidays always make it difficult to reschedule. But we did find a tuesday afternoon free and decided to go to one of our favorite places in Lexington: Michler's Florist. We are huge fans of green houses, greenery, glass roofs, all of the things we find at Michler's. We stopped by a sun-soaked field at the Arboretum and ended the night downtown. Funny how perfect things turn out. Almost like it was meant to be.
Big thank you to Michler's for being kind hosts. And big thank you to these two for adventuring with us.Read More
Vanesa & Andy met at Molly Brooks. They sat at the same corner of the bar when they started their love story as you'll see below. They brought their darling old puppy Dottie, who wouldn't leave their side and ventured a few blocks of Lexington with me. The light was perfect, the December day was oddly warm, and we had so much fun. Big thanks to Vanesa & Andy for tackling a December Engagement with me.Read More
I have grown quite attached to these two. I had the honor of not only photographing their engagement, but also their ceremony in Seattle Washington. They even met my mom (That's a big step.) It's clients like these two that make my job the best job in the world. They had a beautiful reception to celebrate their marriage at the Grand Reserve in Lexington, Ky and it was a glorious celebration of two beautiful souls.Read More

Annastasia and Travis have been so fun from day one. They chose January for their engagement session and we traipsed around Floyd's Fork outside Louisville. For their wedding day, we got to explore Cherokee Park in the cold of December and it was a real winter Wonderland.
I have to give props to Anna and Travis for the best timeline at a wedding. After they got married and took some pictures, they went to the Hilltop tavern and celebrated with some friends before their reception. I think we get wrapped up in scheduling all the "traditional things" during our wedding day, and we forget to plan the celebration.Read More
Now, I love every love story. You know what I really love? Unashamed passion for your own story. These guys met at a Bill Clinton rally and suggested the idea of an engagement session not only in Frankfort, Kentucky but at the capital. Needless to say, having the privilege of walking around the capital with these two love-birds was such a pleasure. Additionally, Shea & Mike are having a literature themed wedding and we couldn't help get a few shots in my favorite Frankfort bookstore, Poor Richard's Attic. And yes, that's an Abraham Lincoln statue and yes, that's a Tom Baker scarf.Read More
Ashlyn & Jonathan are the sweetest souls. Jonathan was in Brazil when we met Ashlyn. His family is doing missionary work in the area. Their quaint little wedding at the Hunt-Morgan House in Lexington, Ky was perfect and so fitting for this heart filled family.Read More
